INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu and Inter party Advisory Council (IPAC). The Independent National Electoral Commission has postponed the Gubernatorial And state Assembly elections to Saturday March 18th.
The election exercise was previously scheduled to hold on March 11th , but the National Electoral body INEC citing logistics crisis stemming from BVAS configuration and transportation, said the election could not hold again as scheduled following a meeting of it’s Executives on Wednesday evening.
The postponement of the election is to give room for a one week more , preparations an official familiar with the meeting told Flourishmedia correspondent via telephone conversation on Wednesday night. We should be able to get everything done and in order before March 18th.
The meeting was still underway at INEC headquarters in Abuja as of the time of filling the report.
The commission had convinced the Abuja Division of the court of Appeal to vary it’s order granting the presidential candidate of the labour party Peter Obi and PDP’s Atiku Abubakar permission to inspect the election materials on the premise that it had to reconfigure the Bimodal Voting Accreditation System (BVAS) for the conduction of March 11th polls which has been postponed to be hold on March 18.
